Vistapoint August 2026 Release Notes

Desktop app

• New feature: Added the duplicate action option to skip. If you have several files with references that are already in the system, but don’t want to import a duplicate that was found, you can skip. This will skip any duplicates so you can keep documents untouched in the system and not disrupt a large import.
• Improvement: Better handling for multi-sync upload or download.
• Improvement: Automatic reference downloads. Now if you check out an assembly, and some of the parts don’t exist locally or are not the latest versions, they will automatically be downloaded. You don’t need to update the workspace to get all of the latest files if you just want to check-out a specific assembly.
• Improvement: Skipped the references review dialog if no warnings are found. Added the parent file name to the references review dialog upon import.
• Bug fix: Fixed the datetime display on the desktop app. Previously, some dates/times were shown in UTC. Now, dates/times are displayed in the local time.
• New feature: Added the option to add a sort rule for a folder. For example, if you want all of the sub-folders to be in the order A-Z, you can edit the folder to assign a sort order logic.
• Improvement: Added support for having multiple connections to different Vistapoint instances open at the same time.
• Improvement: Added the instance name to the local path. Instead of VistapointLocal/workspace/… if your instance is called companyA.vistapoint.cloud, the local files will be downloaded to Vistapoint/companyA/workspace/… . This allows you to support multiple instances. If the VistapointLocal path is already used locally, nothing will be changed. This will only take effect when no VistapointLocal folder exists. After the first time it is checked, the local cache location is stored in local cached settings.
• Improvement: Added better handling for removing document links/shortcuts. Now you can remove document links in bulk. Deleting the links does not effect the original file.
• Improvement: Added better support for handling local file updates in MyWork.
• Improvement: The GoTo link button is now compatible with the web app shareable link.

Web app

• New feature: Added the option to add a URL as a document. If you have a website or document stored on a cloud service, you can store that document URL. You can track additional information or share relevant documents in Vistapoint. Next to the upload button, is a button to Add URL.
• Improvement: Added support for duplicate file checking on the web app. When uploading a file, a search is performed to look for duplicates. Currently, only search by file name is supported. The checksum of a file cannot be read on a browser. Duplicate search options are available in user settings.
• New feature: Added comments to tasks. Now you can add more context about the status to tasks.
• New feature: Admin of the system can now recover archived documents, remove a checkout that doesn’t belong to you, or delete old versions.
• New feature: You can now send an invitation to new users instead of adding their information and creating a password for them. This makes it easier for admin to add new users to their instance.
• Bug fix: Fixed version comment caching after multiple version comments are added.
• Improvement: Better support for creating revisions. Now when creating revisions in bulk, if you select to create a revision for a part and an assembly at the same time, the assembly will now update the reference to point to the new revision of the part. This applies only to parts and assemblies where you create the revision at the same time. Otherwise, you would need to update the local workspace and check-out and check-in the assembly to update to the latest revision.
• Improvement: Added better handling for removing document links/shortcuts. Now you can remove document links in bulk. Deleting the links does not effect the original file.

Server Only

• Improvement: Improved memory performance of server processing.

Integrations

• Improvement: Added better support for DWG files to read references and metadata. You can also add the AutoCAD add-in to check-out/check-in directly from AutoCAD.
