How to add index fields

Index fields are data attributes or labels that you can assign to your documents or workspaces. For example, you can create index fields for a part number, cost, or supplier name. Administrator access is required to add index fields.

1. Go to Configuration > Index fields.

2. Click Add.

3. Enter the following key information:

  • Index Field Name:  Field name for storage. Must have no spaces.
  • Display Name: Name to display in Vistapoint.
  • Namespace: Name to group index fields.
  • Data Type: Number indicating index field type.
    • String = 202
    • Integer = 3
    • Real = 5
    • DateTime = 7
    • Boolean = 11
    • Numeric = 131
    • Date = 133
    • Time = 134
    • TimeStamp = 135
    • Currency = 6
    • GUID = 72
  • Length: Maximum data length.
  • Multivalue: If the value should be stored as multiple values. This should be used for long strings (greater than 256 characters).
  • History: If the index field should be stored for each version.
  • Displayed: If the value should be displayed in Vistapoint.
  • Read-only: If the value should not be editable.

4. Select another row. Click Save.

5, Next, add the index fields to documents classes or workspace classes.
