How to turn off Save As on SolidWorks Assemblies trying to save read-only parts

If you have an assembly that contains many parts that are read-only, SolidWorks might unnecessarily display messages asking to save the read-only parts. This can be turned off with the following settings in SolidWorks.

Check the box for do not save read-only documents
  1. Open a SolidWorks file.
  2. Navigate to File > Save.
  3. Check the box for Do not save read-only documents.
  4. Close the window.
Turn off prompt save referenced documents.
  1. Open SolidWorks.
  2. Navigate to Tools > Options > System Options > External References.
  3. Check the box for Don’t prompt to save read-only referenced documents.
  4. Click Ok.
