Can’t start Inventor Apprentice Server: Inventor.ApprenticeServer
Updated
Problem
When you attempt to upload and analyze Inventor files, you get the error message “Can’t start Inventor Apprentice Server: Inventor.ApprenticeServer Cannot create ActiveX component”. The Apprentice Server is a package used to call the Inventor API.
Solution
The Apprentice Server is typically installed by default when Inventor is installed or Inventor View is installed. Ensure that you have an Inventor application installed before trying to analyze the Inventor files.
If you have an Inventor application installed, but are still receiving the error message, the following settings can be changed:
- Open the settings file: C:\Program Files\Open Domain\Vistapoint\FileManagers\InventorManager\OcmInventorManager.ini
- Change the setting InventorClassName (at the bottom) to: Inventor.Application.
- Save the file.
- Try to analyze the Inventor file again.
If the issue continues, please contact support.
