CAD Manager 11.6 Release Notes
Client
Name Change during Check-out
This new feature allows importing a document into an archive that serves as a placeholder and will be replaced with the actual document in a subsequent check-out process. Consider a situation where the final document is not yet available but needs to reserve a place in a document structure or a pre-assigned unique document number. A customized event allows you to replace the checked-out placeholder document with the real document, once it is available. The new document can have a different name or file extension, Open CAD Manager ensures that all necessary changes to the document’s index fields and to dependent documents are performed.
Article Management
In response to customer requests, we have developed an add-on to Open CAD Manager for managing articles. An article can consist in its simplest form of a single part, or it can be comprised of a complex set of assemblies and sub-assemblies.
Managing the release status of each component in a large structure can be a daunting task. Our article management module makes it easy – when you change the status of an item, dependent items are also checked. A change of status is only allowed if the status of all components is found to be compliant.
When an article is released, the item can no longer be changed and a new revision is created.
DPI Awareness with High Resolution Monitors
Open CAD Manager is comprised of multiple separate components, beginning with add-ins to CAD programs and custom extensions that provide their own user interface. These components may have been built with development technologies that react differently to changing screen and font sizes. The new release of Open CAD Manager was made DPI-aware (DPI = dots per inch), that means, dialogs are shown undistorted independent of a particular resolution and font size of the selected screen.
Server
OCM Web Service
The OCM Service is responsible for handling packages with configuration and customization files, messages, and licenses. Since CAD Manager version 9, it was implemented as a TCP-based service using proprietary messaging commands and ports. A few years ago, we began development of a web service based on open standards (RESTapi) using standard components such as Internet Information Services (IIS). Communication is SSL-secured and uses standard ports (80, 443). This simplifies deployment in critical environments, no other ports need to be opened in a firewall.
The new release is fitted with a range of improvements, beginning with ease of installation and better package management. The new Service Manager application allows you to easily view and edit licenses and seats. The OCM Web Service can be installed in a Docker container.

Tools
Import Manager
The new Import Manager is your product of choice for any kind of analysis and import of bulk engineering data. The Import Manager combines the best of various import tools that have been custom-built in the past and provides a consolidated, uniform user experience.
In a first step, the legacy data is being analyzed, thereby identifying duplicates and missing files, and optionally assigning new document numbers per company standards. Finally, the data is being imported into the archive. Throughout the process, reports are created to let you monitor progress.
