How to configure duplicate search

You can configure duplicate file search options to ensure you don’t import files with the same name or same content. On import, it will search for files based on your search preference and handle the duplicate based on your preference.

Setting duplicate options

  1. On the Vistapoint desktop app start menu click Options.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Under Duplicate file detection select the preferred option:
    Search by file name (recommended) – Searches inside all workspaces for documents with the same name.
    Search by checksum – Searches inside all workspaces for documents with the same checksum (file contents). For example, if the files are named differently are the same, they will be show up in the duplicate search.
    Search by file name and checksum – Searches for file name and checksum. This option is the most narrow and will only find files that are exactly the same.
    Do not search – Does not search for duplicates. Performance can be increased if you do not wish to search for duplicates setting do not search.
  4. Under Duplicate file action select the preferred option:
    Ask user (recommended)Shows a dialog if a duplicate file is found and prompts the user to select the action for that duplicate.
    Create new version – Creates a new version on top of the duplicate file that was found. The imported file will then be the latest version.
    Store new file – Import a new file and ignore the duplicate.
    Move to new location – Move the duplicate found to the new import location.
