How to map CAD attributes to index fields
UpdatedOctober 30, 2025
Mapping CAD attributes or metadata to index fields allows you to view and search by certain properties stored in CAD files. You require administrator access to map attributes to index fields.
The CAD metadata is extracted from the CAD file during import or check-in. The entire metadata field is added to the CSysAttributes (CAD Metadata) field. The available metadata fields extracted from the CAD file are shown in that field. This fields are the available names that can be mapped to the index fields. For example:

Requirements
- You must have the index field CSysAttributes that comes by default in Vistapoint.
- Administrator access.
How to set a mapping rule
- On the web app, select the Settings icon > Admin Settings.
- On the left panel, select Attribute Mapping.
- Select the source type from where to map (index field, revision, etc.)
- For index fields, select the Document Class that contains the index field you want to map or select -All Fields-.
- For index fields, select an index field name to map.
- Enter the name of the CAD attribute found in the CSysAttributes (CAD Metadata) field to map. For example, enter CreateDate to map the created date attribute to the index field CadCreatedOn.

- Click Add.
- Add any additional attribute mapping definitions.
- Click Save.
The updated rules show at next login or by refreshing the page. Attributes are mapped to index fields on each Import, Check-in, or Document Properties save.
